From installing to everyday use: the desktop app, the command line, the hive, the plain-language board and privacy.
Start here
Getting started
Install the desktop app or the command line, connect a model and run a first task.
The desktop app
The conversation, the work panel beside it, the send box, settings and how the app shares everything with the command line.
The command line
spec.jev's commands, the slash commands inside a session and what comes from pi unchanged.
Using mu
Judges
Who answers the decision points, how to choose, chain and compare judges, and what each one costs.
Permissions and safety
The three permission modes, what Jev may approve for you, your hard constraints, risky commands and outside content.
Goal mode and finishing
The task frame, /goal and the checks that keep a run from stopping early, drifting or going in circles.
Context
How spec.jev keeps the context small: tool output by the chunk, stale results dropped without summaries, skills and MCP servers only when needed.
Lessons
What spec.jev learns from your corrections and from getting itself unstuck, how lessons are merged and recalled, and how unused ones retire.
The plain-language board
A board that tells you in plain words how far the work is, written by a model chosen for speaking plainly.
Subagents and the hive
Delegating to subagents with roles, isolated edits that come back as patches, and the hive, where Jev decides what passes between bees.

Configuration
spec.jev.json, the environment variables, proxies and where the per-feature options are.
Features and options
Every feature of the judgment kernel, whether it is on by default, its decision points and each option with its default and range.
Troubleshooting
What to check when spec.jev doesn't start, can't reach a model or the judge seems to do nothing.
Privacy
What stays on your machine, what the judge sees and how to keep everything local.
